Obviously it was the hardest part for us because we were not sure if we could get it with our limited bank accounts also with the type of our visas. Firstly I called the “Home Office” and get my answer – that kind of work permit allows us everything just like a citizen- then we applied for the visa and got an appointment from consulate. Then we made some arrangement for the hostel bookings and plane tickets; we bought our tickets from ryanair from London to Nimes and it was just for £9 pp, we made our travel insurance for £7 pp and the final part were bank statements, in UK you do not have to pay any money for the bank statements cause it’s free. In UK things are easier that our country if people able to do something they do not force you, if they can help simply they help you. On our appointment day everything went well and after one week we were holding our passports with our new visas :)
On our vacation day my boyfriend’s brother-in-law, who is English, arrived in London and we had a couple (!) of pints later just like every Turkish living drunk we wanted to eat some junk food in China Town but we were not informed that those junk foods are literally junk food. What so ever I got sick and we started our trip with two sick stomachs. As you can understand we had already forgotten about currency issue!!
In Nimes no one speaks English and there is only one place you can change your currency and we learned it after such a long hour and walking here and there. Whoever we asked showed a different place but the exact place is the big post office (you can find the map below).
Nimes is a wonderful place, a typical French town simple, elegant and relaxed. There is an arena just like the one in Rome and it is one of the rare ones stayed original almost untouched which the Romans built in 70 AD. Also there is a Roman bath there which is in a spectacular park.
We spent only 6 hours there and it was almost enough for the most touristic places then we took the train for Marseilles where our friends were waiting for us :)
I will write palaces must see later but I want you to see these pictures.
